Monsters aren't always under the bed,
They arenāt always scary like the ones in our head,
Monsters don't always wear claws or have fangs,
They donāt have to chase you or run with gangs,
They smile and speak with a gentle tone,
Behind their kind eyes hides a heart of stone,
The worst of behaviors they can hide so well,
They can fake their charm so no one can tell,
The darkest mask they can hide with a grin,
Their evil heart they often conceal within,
Be alert and trust how you feel,
Monsters are scary but sometimes they're real,
They walk beside us so clean and so neat,
With friendly words and quick on their feet,
They laugh, they cry, they've shared the same road,
While lying and hiding they have everyone snowed,
They've offered to help their voices seem sweet,
They prey on the weak but always defeat,
It's not necessarily the strangers you fear,
But the closest ones around you that are so near,
The bad ones we know don't hide away,
They walk beside you almost every day,
We know their face, their voice and their name,
No one seems to notice while they play their twisted game,
Children get hurt by the people they know,
Their abusive tendencies they don't often show,
Monsters aren't always the ones that you flee,
They are the ones we count on when in need,
Monsters don't necessarily live that far away,
They're usually the ones who make us feel OK,
This is a warning I beg you to hear,
Wearing a smile doesn't mean there's No Fear,
Monsters don't always wear a scary face,
Theyāre close beside you, even in your living space,
Protect the ones you love so much,
Please protect them from their scary touch,
Just because theyāre in your head,
Doesnāt mean they live under your bed!!
