I Lost My Dad Today

by R. K. Wolfe

I lost my dad today.
He didn't pass away, but he is still gone.
He's gone from my life because I chose it that way.
I chose to walk away from the abuse he carries with him every time I am in his presence.
I lost my dad today because he made it that way.
He pushed my boundaries beyond repair.
He was supposed to hug me, love me, be there.
Sometimes I look at my phone waiting for him to call, but I know he wont.
Its not fair.
Its not fair I learned to love you in the beginning.
To only be let down in the end.
Its not fair that I still love you even in the storm of abuse you throw at me.
Its not fair that I have to lose you.
but I do.
If I don't you will kill me, and I know it.
Abuse is abuse and your love isn't love.
So no,
no matter what,
You can't be around anymore.
I lost my dad today.

I NEVER LEFT YOU

by JenniferD

I never left you
I was there standing by the curb side always waiting, always wanting
To be accepted, to maybe for once be good enough ... to be loved

I never left you,
I gave as much as my heart could give, hurt as much as I could handle
Drew from a parched well, damp only from tears
knowing that no matter what ever I did... it would never be enough

I never left you
Even when Knowing that I would never have the right to any place in your heart ,
A void I had no right to fill ,
left vacant by that perfect daughter that wasn’t me

I never left you
At the operating theatres, at the Doctors, the cashiers, the ATMs. the shops
Installments for love or debts of duty?
But the price of approval, acceptance, kindness, and love has now become far too high

I never left you
Craving kindness, comfort, reassurance, respect
that never came
I settled for the hurt as your acknowledgement of my existence in your life

I never left you
And I never will
But I will no longer try and compensate for the disappointment
of not being the one
Accepting that I would never deserve that place in your heart

I will not leave you but I will never again leave myself open to hurt and disappointment and anger or bitterness

I pray for the patience, the acceptance and for the strength to walk the final journey .. in Peace

I will be there as it is my duty, but I will never ever leave Me again

Even After All These Years

by Laura Uhlman

I hear that familiar cry
That turns and tares
Wanting the world to hear
The pain thats hidden deep inside

A voice crying out
"World! Have you not seen"
How bad i hurt, how hard its been
A childhood lost
A life thats robbed
Invasions that threatened my sanity

He loves me yes. He loves me not
And so the chamber rolls
A frightening caress
A forced upon kiss
A game of roulette thats been deadly to my soul

Even so but better yet
This life of extremes
As exhausting as it gets
Keeps pushing me on
Somehow making me strong
As it drags me thro the rubble of its wreck

Though this journeys been hard
I must call it my own cause the reflection i see
Is looking alot like me
I must choose to love her
And call her my home

Home will be a garden
Where i miraculously see
The faithfulness of a spring
That helps me believe
The complexities of life
Can bring fragrance from strife
And the songs of the birds
Can set me soul free.

The Battlefield

by Mindy

Chaos and confusion,
Fiercely made within,
Anxiety and fear,
Knows exactly where I’ve been.

One moment there is goodness,
One moment emotions are intense,
One moment I cannot feel anything,
It doesn’t make any sense.

Can you hear the screams within me?
The frustrations and the overwhelm?
Can you hear the others laughing,
They have no idea of my hell!

I want to be accepting,
I want to be open and free,
I want to never have to dwell,
On the person that is me.

We all have a soul,
who fights some battle,
There are fragments of disgust and hurt,
We all have a soul,
Who fights some battle,
Who needs time to scream and assert.

If we will never be different,
And we will never ever change,
I wonder if I’ll be healthy again,
Or Will I continue to be the same?

It’s terrifying to feel empty,
Not a space to be open for love,
It’s terrifying to feel nothing,
A hole that even God can’t be part of.

Time...it seems to be ticking,
Time...is wasting away,
Freedom, at last for my hurting,
There are Parts that just need to stay.

A protection of all the fragments,
That have gathered like a guard,
Fencing off my heart,
They will have no disregard.

They will not fight and they will not share,
They have a fire that they will start,
Hurting all the trespassers,
Who underestimate their ability to tear us apart.

It’s all we know we have,
We are one United pack,
Destroying all the goodness,
And embracing all we lack.

Understanding we won’t let you down,
There’s No shame that will ever escape,
We will continue to keep you safe and sound,
You’re Not growing because we must wait.

It is not safe for her to show you how,
Her mind was broke that day,
It’s not safe for her to show you now,
That’s why you need to stay.

Like a butterfly, deciding,
to move forward and to die,
Cocooned and spun to mush,
Wipe your eyes if you must cry.

She may not believe this as her fate,
She may try to run when she can’t see,
But I guarantee she’s stronger,
Than we all seem to think she’ll be.

Independent and beautiful,
The butterfly will emerge,
Trusting only a few that love,
Her story she will purge.

Then faith will give her power,
There will be no more control,
She will be able to let go of the fear,
Reunited with her soul.

There will be one day the feelings,
Of love and kindness and trust,
Compassion, joy and pride will show,
Healing is a must.

We will take her to the end,
One day we will truly let you see,
Heaven or hell is with us,
That is all that’s left to be.

Good or bad,
Love or hate,
I will never let anyone down,
Uncontrollable actions,
Chaos and battle, we are bound.

Forever
Needing to accept and Let go

Adieu

by JenniferD

I will be over
This hurt one day
Time is the healer
Well that’s what they say

But it’s preyed hard on my mind
And it’s shattered my heart
The hurt of your rejection
Has just torn me apart

Where did I go wrong
What did I fail to do
In never making the mark
To be good enough for you

Dismissive and disparaging
Despite all that I did
Even when doing cartwheels
To fulfil all your bids

Emotionally unavailable
To display love or care ?
Or was the role of mothering
That you were so unaware?

It pleased you to hurt me
Your power to control
But why was I deserving
Of all that hate and vitriol?

So distance I give you
And my absence your gift
And I bear no responsibility
For causing this rift

In A Fog

by Mindy

Staring out

Into a space so vast,

Wondering how long

The illusion will last?

What will my mind

Make of all the pain,

What will my heart,

Do with all the shame?

I’m tired and afraid,

I’ve longed for this day,

I’m tired and afraid,

What will my words say?

I just want to connect,

But all that it brings,

Is hate and mistrust,

And love that is mean.

Unfair and intense,

I want to scream and shout,

Ugly and unbearable,

To that, there is no doubt.

Less in my head,

Moving cautiously around,

Feeling in your body,

Until compassion is found.

Hold on to that hope,

Let all the failure subside,

Take notice of sensations,

Doing their best to hide.

Be kind and be gentle,

In this moment, right now,

Be brave and be quiet,

You will get out some how.

Empty your thoughts,

Bring the feelings ahead,

Accept what is there,

You’re alive, you’re not dead!

Tingling sensations,

Cover me up,

Fill my body with essence,

Laid out and cut.

Can I finally let go,

Can I finally be free?

It’s just a matter of time,

Until we can all see.

What if I

Could take it all away?

What if I

Could be free for just a day?

Would I still long for the connection,

Or would I surrender to it all,

Would I long for the forgiveness,

Or would I just continue to fall?

Escaping all the feels,

The thoughts up in my head!

Escaping all the noise,

That continues to be fed.

Someone please!

Hold me close, hold me tight!

Share with me a love,

That even my worst thoughts can fight!

Give me some meaning,

Bring light to the dark,

Show me there’s something better,

Some goodness straight from the heart.

Will I ever be my own person?

Will I ever be open to life?

To the existence of freedom,

And the right to recognize?

I feel empty and afraid,

Wandering aimlessly through days,

Fighting for what?

Simply to obey?!?

Meaningless and illogical,

Everything is chaotic and a mess,

Full of days with sadness,

Leaning oh so closer to death.

Know that it’s for the better,

Know there is not one person who can help,

I’d be lying if I saw a future,

For a bettering of myself.

Does that make me a bad person?

I am really not for sure.

Seeking out solace amongst us,

Finding methodology, it’s all such a blur.

Is what I’m feeling for real?

Is it Based on truth and justice alone?

Why am I Hated by so many?

Secretly feeling a life I disown.

Who am I to trust?

Who am I to care?

Life without my bullshit,

Is a life I must not share.

Each and every part,

Of each and every day,

Must be remembered for the good times,

For all the times we prayed.

It’s ok to let go of hurt,

It’s ok to let go of your soul,

Created within loving hands,

A God that will console.

Staring out

Into a space so vast,

Wondering how long

This illusion will last?

Take me home today!

Breathe deep within your chest!

Help me Pick up the pieces,

And and let go of all the rest!

In a fog of deep mistrust!

In a space that in complete,

Make time to love your littles,

Before it’s obsolete.

perfect

by Heather Rae

It doesn't have to be
the not guilty plea
splats the floor
dripping from the tips
of my mind's
fingers,
straining
to right
the bunching
of the window blind.
perfect.
It doesn't have to be,
like a jester
drawing me
with a cartwheel,
it's rivets fail
to pry my sights
from catching
the crook
of the picture frame
from plummetting
to a certain
demise.
perfect.
It doesn't have to be,
each word dangles
from a red balloon
in the assured swallow
from the hankering sky.
my thinking
sits in the sweaty clutch
of a child , aging
with each questioned step,
begging her pole to answer.
perfect.
It doesn't have to be,
but the chair leg
kicks me and screams
"I'm wrong",
ignoring the tears
accept an occasional
swipe at my nose,
the table
with it's obvious tells,
lets it's joker
lead the way
to where the edges
find peace.
perfect.
It doesn't have to be,
but, but lines
bang the gavel,
folds cry for a crease,
I shall die in this
dissonant dive!
My left hand lays
across the fathers
cracked cover,
my right
pulled by
the puppet masters
string,
"Yes" I swear,
solemnly to
hold corners,
keep her steady
this dark horse
I sally
til perfect,
It doesn't have to be.

Haunt

by Trinity Rayne

Why is it me you still haunt?
You only disappoint
Why is it me you still taunt?
Like we're still attached at the joint
I can't seem to cut the cord that binds us
Even though I need to
Memory after memory reminds us
Of why you don't need me and I don't need you
Our family was broken from the start to end
Love was also an unfamiliar and distant stranger
We only broke each other's heart and fought to defend
Our family that was toxic and full of dysfunctional danger
Memories with you still haunt me day and night
They haunt me like a ghost
Memories with you still hurt and bite
Why couldn't you be the dad I needed most
I wish it all didn't haunt me anymore
I want it all to go away
I wish it would all leave out the door
I wish it all didn't haunt my mind on replay

Point Out

by Trinity Rayne

I'll point out to you a point or two
Yes you dad I'm talking to you
You shouldn't have decided what to do
I should have called the shots of when our contact was through
You didn't have to screw up and fail on me
You didn't have to change your course with projections and derail on me
You didn't have to leave and bail on me
You didn't have to rain on my parade and hail on me
All I wanted was closure and not your pity
But instead you gave me lies that were pretty
The lies you told were foreign from a different city
You're a delusional dimwit who thinks he's smart and witty
I'd like to point out how you should take your head out from that butt you own
I'd like to point out all the chances to make it right with me that you blown
I'd like to point out how your soul is black and your heart made of stone
I'd like to point out how you possibly may end up alone
I could go on and on to point out all the chaos you created
I could go on and on to point out it wasn't only me you devastated
I could keep going on to point out how it's complicated
But I'll stop there and say we are not family even though we're blood related

Burst Bubble

by Trinity Rayne

I used to ask and wonder why
Everything you said was a lie
You suffocated my dreams to die
You tried to keep me from the freedom to fly
I used to worry and wrinkle my head
Everything you instilled in me was dread
You ground my heart to make your bread
You tried to make it to where I only hung on by thread
I used to think you loved me but you only brought pain
Everything for you was a gain
You took advantage of my love in vain
I tried to see through your soul that has a stain
I used to worship you but now all I see is you're toxic trouble
Everything that was once good of ours is underneath the wrecked rubble
You hurt me repeatedly and more than double
You tried to get out of saying you didn't cause my burst bubble
You kept going until it pop
You had to delude yourself to be on top
You realistically ended up a father flop
My burst bubble is your mess you didn't want to clean up to mop
I'll be fine and I'll be okay
I'll slowly rebuild my burst bubble day by day
There's nothing more to you I'll say
You'll never win and end up alone since you won't get out of your way
