Wounds

by Trinity Rayne

They don't have to define who we are
When you acknowledge that you have them you reveal each and every scar
They do hurt and hurt like hell
When you heal them one day you'll have a wonderful survivor story to tell
Wounds will only open up again if you go back to what made you break
Set yourself free for your own sake
Wounds and pain can have beauty in them it's true
But they don't shape me or shape you
They can be quite beautiful because for some people who want to change
Will meet a new person someday and at first it may feel strange
Use your wounds to do better and do no harm
Clean them up and amputate the toxicity that bound you just like you would an arm
Wounds are messy and only make you sore
All you can do is tend them and keep fighting for a life worth much more
