Siamese Lover

by Betmae

Our hearts are one
I breathe your breath
Organs intertwined
But you feel smothered
Believe the optimists
You can survive with a
Surgical separation
Will live your life
Independently
Deign to visit
If you want
Can’t convince you otherwise
Scalpel is excruciating
I am mortally wounded
No will to go on
Don’t last a day before withering
After frolicking and cavorting you
Feel incomplete and look back
But I am dust and
Can no longer bond
