The Making of a Friend

by Debbie Piziali

Friends stick around after all the fun
Security when clouds roll in and block the sun

Friends have a good laugh and sometimes cry
They will be there until your eyes are dry.

Friends are always great to be around
Shovel in hand breaking up that hard, dry ground

Friends are the most important and valuable gift
Boosting us up and giving us that needed lift

Friends tell us the hard truth to our face
But with a warm hug and lots of grace

Friends sometimes have to press us hard
At other times will post us on guard

Friends can annoy us and be a real pest
But ultimately they know what’s for our best

Friends know no limit and ways to give
Even their very life that you may live
