My Lover Man

by Betmae

I was born all alone
Mom and dad was never home
My brother beat me
So I never did have peace
Tell I went off to roam

Then I found my lover man
Won’t you take my hand
We’ll be together
Always forever
Just like ocean and sand

To my lover man
You’re my everything
Now you’re in my dreams
Always it seems
Clouds and ocean and sand

Our souls intertwine
Two sons yours and mine
Together forever
Us four together
My lover man

To my lover man
Our boys grew to men
Stand side by side
My heart filled with pride
Ocean, sand and tide

Felt you turn away
Wasn’t sure you’d stay
She came to take you
Said she could make you
Young again
If you were her lover man
I said she will break you
Without your sons and me to take you
To the promised land

Don’t leave me here
I need to have you near
My life is shattered
My horizon in tatters
I’ll raise my fist
Or blow her to bits
If you are her lover man

By my side now you stand
Look out at ocean and sand
Your heart isn’t home
It went out to roam
Again I’m all alone
Even with a lover man

I feel so much shame
I’ll never be the same
You say it will get better
But will it ever
Lover man
