Jump Rope

by Betmae

 Crowded rough and tumble playground
 Skinned knees flesh wound
 Manic climbing
 Alone running wild swinging sliding

 Drawn to jump rope game
 Double dutch two kids same
 Synching euphoria glorious
 Laughing rhyming
 Jumping as one one one
 Perfectly meshed fun fun fun
 Wanted forever pleasure
 Two came together

Two little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
 Mama called the doctor
 And the doctor said
No more monkeys jumping on the bed

Ragged thick rope wacks shins and skin
 Wind comes up get tired
You step out turn away from our play
Enticed by new flashy stretch rope desire
 Exciting game game game
Fancy dancing steps what’s her name name name
 Criss cross elastic
 Spangles but plastic
 She purposefully trips you
Don’t notice now I’m blue blue blue

Cry for you to come back
 Don’t hear new track
Too sad to jump alone lone lone
Just want to go home home home

 Wind dies off
Tangled in elastic too many times you scoff
 You jump back in
 To double dutch again begin

 Will keep trying
 Better than crying
To get back rhythm and rhyming
