Sweet Bee

by Betmae

 So strong athletic and gentle
I draw my soft petals around him
 Emit sweet perfume
 Stroke him
 Wrap around
 He burrows in
 Dances with my soul
Beats his wings into my heart
 Buzzes I am his everything
We doze in the languid sun
 An intoxicating season
But my stalk starts to dry
One day I hear my bee sweet buzzing with another flower
 My leaves turn to ice
 Shiver and crumble
 Petals drop like tears
 A husk
 Unthinking barren unto winter

In spring I feel the sun again
I lift my face and feel its warmth
